In this post I wanted to explore the relationship between these major console companies like Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo and the studios that develop the games for them and their relevance to the consumers.
Peanut Butter equals the industry and Jelly equals the video games produced and we are the bread.
When you’re hungry you make a Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwich. We, the consumers are the bread that holds the industry aka Peanut Butter together. Now to have a complete sandwich all items must be present. In order for the companies to be successful the consumers must purchase the games that are produced.
When examined, the sandwich looks like a mess but in the end you always end up satisfied.
All these things made me think about the state of the industry and just how much they need us.
As a gamer I can honestly say that games have progressed very far in terms of graphics and gameplay. Each company has as well. Each is represented by a specific person who makes the thousand man company seem so small.
A sandwich is nothing without it’s bread. As such the industry is nothing without the people supporting it. This brings me to my next point, we the consumer control what happens. Don’t like a game or a company practice? Speak with your money.
So what if your allergic to Peanut Butter? An alternative will do.
The gaming industry needs us and we need them. Now go make a sandwich… A Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwich.
